If you guys have a strange ad to that leads to the file is called a pdf.php, which automatically appeared when the next ad loads, when it loads, EXIT IT OUT QUICK!! Why? The virus will pop up out of a no where and yes, it is a trojan. If you seen a link something like this:

<insert IP address here>/zzzzaewiouow/pdf.php?id=3065&vis=1

And for god's sakes, DON'T EVER CLICK ON THIS LINK, THIS WILL LEAD TO A VIRUS!! If you guys have this, please contact the Help Desk now!

My computer got infected with spyware like 2AM morning when I was looking threw pictures on dA. Luckily my McAfee caught it, but it was a Trojan. Then all of sudden, spyware is popping out of the no where. I scan my Ad-ware but I accidentally restore it. But I've been seeing a bunch of pop-ups and it almost crashed my computer and it also crashed my FireFox. I rescanned my McAfee and there was no viruses, I also rescanned Ad-ware and I removed it, and guess what, it kept coming back! Couple hours later, I realized my computer was reset by itself, and and McAfee officially removed the Trojan. I already told the Admins about this though VIA on the forums on the "Inappropriate Ad" threat and I do hope they'll remove that link quick, so if you have this, PLEASE report it to the staff members or contact them VIA on Help Desk if you seen something like this. This is actually a second time when this appeared on the computer. The first one crashed my FireFox.

Thank you guys for reading and have a nice and safety Merry Christmas! =D

First off I work on computers my own and others. I even got this annoying trojan.
I was infected by this virus by advertisements on deviantart.

I was having pop ups from IE and Firefox with out them being open. It runs
programs in the background that try to dial/connect out to somewhere.

If you have been infected try to clean it the best you can or
Try to back everything up aka your files saves etc.
Programs can be reinstalled and are best to be.
Then try to get Windows Reinstalled. To be on safe side.

I tryed to have Spybot S&D remove it but it was unable to do so.

Keeped the process(es) from running if at all possible that are related to it.

Tryed Windows Defender and it was able to remove it. But system was still not running correctly.

Feared worse infection that could not be detected.

Built a slipedstreamed windows install disc.
_Basically its a cd/dvd that has drivers/programs/etc and installes faster than a normal disk._

Now I am currently still clean and browsing the site.

DeviantArt is not the only place this is happening I did some searching
when I was infected and yeah it looks to be some what of a new way to infect.

For Firefox users :
go to options> advanced > general tab in there and check the warn when redirect to prevent some infection!

For IE I do not know do not use it to browse except to check compatibility on web sites and windows updates.

Baaa i hate reinstalling, but hey my apps start up faster now :) at least a little my comp is a few years old ug.

Good luck to all. AND BEWARE THE EVIL AD!

Spybot S&D with Teatimer now in background.

Nvidia Geforce 7800gs
Aurora by extvia for background :) [link]

Wow, thanks for the information. I got that IE and FireFox Pop-up as well. Still working on my computer though, but at least I got a new hard-drive to reformat my old files into this new hard-drive that I'm currently on. :3

This is so horrible...and is why the Mac is so great, viruses are written for pc, and they just skip right happily past.

AH
So that's what it was ): My laptop's ruined because of it. I got infected Christmas evening. It won't let me visit any antivirus websites and won't let me run System Restore, Spybot, or Malwarebytes Anti-Walware. And my computer only actually runs every 5th startup.

It's twice as awful because my laptop weighs 2 pounds because it doesn't have a CD drive and so I have to figure out how to reformat the hard drive and reinstall XP with a flash drive or something.

Same goes to me, happened to me at Christmas evening too. xD But I have to reformat my stuff when I get back from Ohio though, cause...well, read my Journal for more info. I'm currently using my dad's laptop from Ohio. I'm currently in my Aunt's and Uncle's house and using my dad's laptop.

I had the same issue almost two week ago... instead of getting a trojan (Symantec kept blocking the BloodHounds and jvmimpro.jar things), I got a Browser Hijacker that kept redirecting my dA tabs to naughty sites or other advertisements. I used Anti-Spy on the Yahoo Toolbar to get rid of it. But now I'm starting to get browser redirects on dA again. Even though they aren't naughty this time around, they are still annoying. :(

dA sucks with spyware blocking.

I've gotten the ad a couple times and it's tried to attack my computer but my Avast! anti-virus and Scotty Watchdog won't let it stick around. They yell (Sirens and barking ftw.) at me and then terminate the connection.
